My name is Simon Lyons and I was born in Gravesend, Kent in England. I grew up in that town, worked there as a newsagent before moving to Newport in Wales for 2 years. I moved back to Kent and apart from two years in Ohio, USA I have been here in Kent ever since. I have worked for the last 20 years within the Criminal Justice system in the UK and currently work in a Law Court in London.
I have had pets such as cats for most of my life except for the last 7 years as my property isn’t suited to pets – it is small and there are plently of other aninals in a smallish estate.
I have a disability called Fibromyalgia, which means I suffer from rheumatic/arthritic type pains constantly, and I still commute to work with this condition, so time off is usually taken for recovery and mobility is limited.

My sense of protection towards animals is that I simply do not understand why there would be a need to intentionally hurt another creature that in harming you. I will not be hypocritical – I am not a vegetarian, but I still believe in compassion to farming animals that makes an unfortunate procedure more welfare conscious.
I have been a passive believer of this until recently when I have created and administer several anti-bullfighting and anti-seal hunting pages on Facebook.
I would be willing to serve in whichever way I can!
